Deweys 24hour Readathon: April 2021

Here we are, again! Deweys 24hour readathon is just about to start (I’m writing this with about an hour left until we start) and I’m really excited! This year I’m visiting my best friend and convinced her to read along with me. We also chose to read the same book:

We’ve rewatched The 5th Wave since we didn’t remember how the first book ended and are now ready to continue with the second installment.

Apart from this book I’m keeping my options open. Here’s some books I may read:

What else is important? Snacks! I’ve got:

  • some chocolate
  • chocolate muffins
  • for lunch/dinner I’ll make a tofu and brokkoli bowl with rice

I might add to the list! This isn’t a lot but I’m going to go to the store really quick and pick something up.

Now there’s nothing left than to find a cozy place to read, maybe get some tea (and water!) and actually start reading. I’ll post my updates on this blog post! This way you can stay updated. I might add some things to my story on Instagram. Enjoy reading!

Hours 1-4

Until now I’ve read a total of 76 pages. Not a lot, I know! But the first hour was lost due to cooking and eating and the second was almost the same. Plus setting up the snack station! It consists of drinks, fruit, savory and sweet snack. So babsically everything you could want!

Apart from that it was pretty hard to get into „The Infinite Wave“ by Rick Yancey. The perspectives change over time, but you’re never told whose pov you’re in right now! I’m determined though to finish this book throughout the readathon. It’s been on my TBR for sooo long!

Hours 5-9

We’ve been devouring pages (currently on page 180) and snacks alike! My bestie and I are basically reading at the same pace and can talk about certain scenes in the book. Such a cool way to read a book! Right now we need a break since we don’t love the book a 100%. We’re still reading Rick Yancey and it’s been a journey… so we tuned into a little television now. 🙂 It‘s called „Sing meinen Song“ and it’s a German show where musicians turn songs by other artists into their own version. Pretty cool!

And the snacks? Everything from cherry juice, to chocolate bars, to gel-o pineapple, to crisps and muffins. (Not that healthy… whoops!) To be totally honest? The readathon always feels like a huge snack-fest to me. 😀

I hope you still enjoy reading and continue doing so. See you soon!

Hours 10-13

End of hour 13 and we finally made it! I didn’t think I could and I’m beyond tired. I’ll go to sleep now, good night! It‘a 3am here…

Hours 14-20

Sleeeeeep

Hour 21

And we’re back in the middle of hour 21! I can’t decide between W.I.T.C.H. and Aurora Rising (see TBR above)… I think I might finish Aurora Rising since there’s just around 60 pages left. But first, coffee! 🙂

Starting page Aurora Rising (ebook): ~412 of 496 (Had to edit the pages since the netgalley edition had weird pages. I updated it to the German ebook edition!

Hours 22-23

I just finished Aurora Rising close to hour 24! It was an amazing read and I can only recommend this story! It was crazy good and I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book. And I just saw that the third one is coming out November this year! Whoop!

I also finished my coffee and had a muffin for breakfast. It’s now 12:43pm. Should I read W.I.T.C.H. or should I indulge in the readathon community?

Hour 24

Btw I indulged in the readathon community for a bit! Now back to reading. 🙂

Closing survey:

  1. How would you assess your reading overall? – I’m pretty happy with it! This year I read a lot more than the last years. I used to focus a lot on the whole social media stuff. I love the community and how active they are, but I read more on social media than in an actual book! :-/
  2. Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it? – Uhm…. read, snack and drink water?
  3. What was your favorite snack? – I guess the cherry-chocolate-muffins. They got better over time!

The End

Everyone, we did it! I decided to read W.I.T.C.H. for the remaining time and really enjoyed it. I thought it’d be an okay-read, but turns out it’s pretty cool! Even though the readathon is officially over now, I’ll continue that book. But today is also the day I’ll start Shadow and Bone on Netflix! Have you seen it yet? Have you read the books? Let me know! 🙂
